Crazy Weather

We have had some crazy weather in Phoenix the last week or so and since we generally have pretty boring weather I decided to snap some pictures as proof of the big winter storm of 2010!

We had 4 days of almost non-stop rain, my back yard was like a mini lake. Our street was flooded. There were tornado watches that turned into tornado warnings, we literally got almost more rain in those 4 days than we get in an entire year. Yeah. That is a lot of rain. It is actually clouding up again and threatening to pour on us again. It’s been nice to get some rain and have a change of pace for a little while, but I am one of those people that needs sun to grow, so yeah, I am ready to return to our normal sunshiney 70° that is what we are used to at this time of year…I know, I am spoiled =)

Crafty Woman

So I have been a very crafty woman lately, which is kind of a big change. I always see crafts I want to do, but then end up not doing them for one reason or another. Well, we have had some really bad weather lately in Phoenix which has given me time to stay inside and do stuff that I wouldn’t normally have time to do.

I saw this tutorial for a Valentine’s craft over at Jen’s blog and thought I would give it a try.
Here are my results:

A Day In MY Life

So I decided to document a day in my life in pictures the other day and let me tell you, it was a really busy day…I took pictures all day from the minute I woke up…

After I got up, it was time to get Hannah up and ready for school, YAY for school!

While Sean took her to school, I jumped on the Wii Fit Plus and did my morning weigh in and yoga, then checked in online for a few minutes. All is well on PhoenixMommies. Now its time to work on the grocery list and make sure I have everything on there. After that its time to hit the showers and get ready for the day.

Now that I am all ready, its time to head to the grocery store and get my shopping done for the next 2 weeks. When we get home, Sean unloads the car while I put everything away and clean out the fridge in the process.

After that, its downtime for about 10 minutes before I have to leave again and head to the Super Target Pharmacy to pick up Sean’s meds, then down to pick Hannah up at school. We decided to stop at the hospital after picking her up to get some blt’s from the coffee shop. The hospital coffee shop makes THE BEST blt’s! We say hi to daddy while we are there as he is now at work on his regular noon to midnight shift. After that we headed home to have our lunch and then some quiet time.

After quiet time we headed out again to my mom’s house to pick her up for our other errands. We hit up the Michael’s for some craft stuff (that will be shown later =) ), Walmart and the bank.

Finally, we drop Mimi off at her house and head home for the rest of the day. Time to do some cleaning. Laundry and dishes have been calling my name all day! Mixed in is some more time to get online, read a book and snuggle with Hannah on the couch, go for a walk in the beautiful 72° weather.

After our walk it was time to do some work online, help Hannah with her homework and then start dinner. While I was cooking Hannah decided she wanted to take a picture of my newest tattoo (got it last summer) and then of course wanted her picture taken. I emptied the dishwasher while making dinner too. Finally when dinner was ready, Hannah and I sat down to mac n cheese and hot dogs with some Backyardigans for entertainment.

After some cartoons and playtime, its finally time for Hannah to hit the sack (yay!). Once she was in bed, I tidied the living room, folded/put away / hung up the laundry.

At last it was my time. I had seen this Valentine’s Wreath over at a friends blog, Jen at Tatertots and Jello. She is so creative and crafty and always has such fun, easy ideas! Check her out! So I decided to try my hand at the wreath she made and it was a fun and easy project that didn’t very long at all.

Shortly after I finished that and got it all hung up pretty, Sean texted to let me know he was getting off work early (an hour and a half) so he would be home soon. Once he got home, we snuggled on the couch and watched some tv before decided it was time to head to bed. Saturday was set to be another crazy busy day for both of us.

Progress

So, we are in week 2 of the Biggest Loser PM Style and everyone is doing really well. I am down 6.6 lbs from my starting weight! Week 2 has been more of a struggle for me to actually get up and get moving. But I am forcing myself to get up and move at least 2ce a day. Usually in the morning or early afternoon I grab Hannah and either go for a walk or a bike ride. It gets us both out of the house and being active which is good for both of us. Then in the evening after she goes to bed, its time to pull out the Wii Fit Plus and Biggest Loser games. I can feel my legs and abs getting toned from all the yoga I have been doing. Plus I am beginning to hike. We have all these great mountain trails in Phoenix and the weather is perfect right now. So I am pushing myself to do things I haven’t done in like 20 years…man, that makes me feel old! lol

My challenge for myself this week is to lose at least 3 lbs. I am doing great so far so I don’t think it will be a problem. I have decided when I reach the midway point of the contest (another 4 weeks away) I will reward myself with a new tattoo!

What do you do to stay motivated? Do you reward yourself for progress towards a bigger goal?

Biggest Loser

I am so excited! Tomorrow is the beginning of the weight loss contest on PhoenixMommies, we are doing Biggest Loser PM edition. There are 16 of us competing for a prize package of $160 and a photo shoot! There is a second place prize of a gift card to Kohl’s to go shopping, but I am aiming to win =).

I have gotten the Wii Fit Plus and The Biggest Loser game along with it. I have started doing both already and they are great. I will also be walking/hiking/biking in addition to doing the games.

Tomorrow is the initial weigh-in and then its on for the next 12 weeks! Wish me luck =)!!

Goal Setting aka New Years Resolutions

So I don’t know if you are like me, but when I was growing up my dad would sit my brother and me down and ask us to do some goal setting for the upcoming year. When I became an adult, I decided I didn’t want to do that anymore because, well…I never really tried to reach the goals I had been setting for years, so obviously I didn’t find success at achieving the goals.

I decided however, that this year I wanted to return to my roots and have come up with my goals for 2010. Maybe putting them out here will help hold me accountable to achieving them.

These are in not really in any order, just what came to me as I thought about my life:

Stop living paycheck to paycheck – finally get our finances under control and not let it be a hindrance to what we want from life.

Be healthier – be more consistent with the exercising and eating right.

Stop yelling.

Spend more family time – taking walks, playing games, reading.

Less computer time – this kind of goes along with more family time.

Focus on my photography – setup business end.

Travel – as much as possible. Road trips, day trips.

Go on dates with my husband at least once a month.

Have a family fun night with good friends. Make time for doing more things together.

Keep my house more clean and organized. Consistently.

Spend less extraneous cash.

Cook more meals at home – thoughtfully prepare meals for my family.

So, that’s it. I am really trying to work on all these areas of our life and I hope to be doing much better on all of them by this time next year =). What about you? Any goals you have set for yourself for 2010?
